Some time ago I was at a loss for something to do so decided to make new Stepper Motor Mounts out of Acrylic and Polycarbonate. They have been on my router in use for probably 10 months now and there is no sign of any problem with them at all regardless of being made out of plastic.

The Tube used was 44.6mm OD with a wall thickness of 3.0mm, length is 30mm. I faced them in a lath to ensure the ends were clean and parallel.
Once recessed into the two ends in this case the overall assembled length was 39mm. The ends use 10mm thick Acrylic but as Acrylic has a tolerance thickness variation the overall assembled length may vary slightly 0.5 to 1.0mm. For this application that is not relevant.
Anyone using my dimensions or Vectric Aspire files to make their own will likely have to adjust the tube recess diameter to suite their tube dimensions.
